Note from the President

Welcome to the Encinitas Ranch Women’s Golf Club.

It has been a fabulous year so far.  We have had two away from homes, one at Arrowood and one at The Vineyard.  We have also had our Spring Bring-a-Friend and Jack and Jill tournaments.  All have had great participation and we had loads of fun.

Congratulations to Tracy Hubly-Starkjohann for successfully defending her Club Championship title.  It was an exciting tournament.  After 54 holes, it was all tied up and went into sudden death.  On hole #10, Tracy birdied her first hole of the day and defeated Kazumi to win the championship.

We are currently in the middle of the Presidents Cup match play tournament.  We changed the format this year so that the tournament is being held throughout the summer.  June was the first round and we saw some great golf being played.  Mimi Tokoro broke 90 for the first time, shooting 88 and Kathy Jaray shot her lowest round ever of 91.  The second round will begin on July 1 and all matches are to be completed by July 31st.

Coming up on July 29th is our annual member/guest tournament.  Entry forms have gone in the mail and the deadline to sign up is Tuesday, July 15.  The theme this year is “A Day at the Movies”.  The cost is $80 and includes golf, cart, range balls, lunch and prizes.  There will be a raffle with lots of great prizes and golf rounds, and a 50/50 raffle.  All members must invite at least one guest and may invite up to three guests. All guests need to have a current established handicap.  Create your own foursomes or sign up as a pair.  For more information, email president@erwgc.org .

Our next general meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 19th.  It will be an 8am shotgun with the meeting following golf.  Please plan to attend.

The next “Away from Home” is scheduled for Tuesday, September 23rd.  It will be held at Camp Pendleton.  Look for more information as the date gets closer.
