A-B-C-D TOURNAMENT
This is a two best ball net tournament. Each team is made
up of an A-player, B-player, C-player and D-player.
BEAT THE PRO
If your net score beats the pro’s gross score, you can double
your money in the pro shop. For example, if you wager $5 before
your match, you can win a $10 gift certificate for merchandise
in the pro shop if you beat the pro’s gross score.
BEST NINE
Choose your nine best holes and subtract half your handicap.
BETTER BALL PARTNERS
Score the better net score of partners. There is a ten stroke
limit between partners. Take strokes where they fall.
BETTER NINE
Choose the better front or back nine. Subtract half your handicap.
BETTER NINE PLUS
Choose the better gross score of the front nine or the back
nine. Add putts from the nine not selected and then subract
half your handicap. Note: any ball touching the putting surface
counts as a putt.
BLIND NINE
Nine holes are chosen to score without the prior knowledge
of the players. Subtract half your handicap.
BRING A FRIEND
This is a mini “Member-Guest” tournament where you may bring
an amateur female friend to play in one of our net tournaments.
Your friend must have a valid handicap and does not have to
be a member of our Club.
CHA-CHA-CHA
A team event where your score is determined by one low net
on the par 5 holes, two low nets on the par 4 holes and three
low nets on the par 3s. Take strokes where they fall.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
The annual Club Championship is decided by 54 holes of stroke
play. See page 32 for eligibility requirements.
CRIERS
Revert your two worst holes to par and subtract your full
handicap.
CRISS CROSS YOUR HEART
Choose the better hole of 1 or 10; 2 or 11; 3 or 12, etc.
Subtract half your handicap.
CROSS COUNTRY
Choose the better hole of 1 or 18, 2 or 17, 3 or 16, etc.
Subtract half your handicap.
EASY RIDER
Score the 9 easiest-rated holes (Hcp. rating 10 thru 18).
Subract half your handicap.
ECLECTIC
Improve your gross scores over two play days, hole-by-hole.
Take strokes where they fall. Played as an individual or partner
event. In the Partner’s Eclectic, there is a maximum 10 stroke
diffence between indexes; one partner may play without her
partner one of the weeks.
EENIE MEENIE
Score only your three best 3 pars, three best 4 pars and three
best 5 pars. Subtract half your handicap.
ENCINITAS CUP
The Encinitas Cup qualifiers are played each month January
through November. The low gross and low net winner each month
is qualified to play in the Encinitas Cup final in December.
The December champions will be eligible to defend their titles
the following year.
FIELD SHOTS
Count your putts and subtract them from your gross score.
Deduct half your handicap.
IF OR DOUBLE IF
Throw out your worst hole (or 2 worst holes) and subtract
your full handicap.
JACK AND JILL
This is another mini “Member-Guest” tournament where you may
bring an amateur male friend who has a valid handicap to play
in one of our usual net tournaments .
LEAST PUTTS
Keep a separate record of your putts. The fewest putts wins.
LOW GROSS / LOW NET
Low Gross score is the actual number of strokes (plus penalties)
taken in an 18-hole round. Low Net is your gross score less
your handicap.
MIDDLE NINE
Score the middle nine holes (holes 6-14). Subtract half your
handicap.
MUTT & JEFF
Score only 3 and 5 par holes. Subtract half your handicap.
ODD OR EVEN
Score your odd holes or even holes (whichever is better).
Subtract half your handicap. When played as partners, one
partner scores odd holes and the other scores even. Combine
your handicaps and subtract half the total.
O.N.E.S.
Score only holes starting with O, N, E, and S. (1, 6, 7, 8,
9, 11, 16, 17, 18) Subtract half your handicap.
PAR FOURS
Ten par 4s. Use all 10, less half your handicap.
PARTNER RELAY
Before play begins, partners decide which partner’s score
will count on the even holes and which will count on the odd
holes. Take strokes where they fall. Record gross and net
scores.
PRESIDENT’S CUP
This is a match play elimination tournament. See eligibility
requirements on page 31.
SCRAMBLE TOURNAMENT
Four golfers play as a team. For each shot, all players play
from where the best ball is determined to be.
SELECTIVE NINE
Choose any nine holes before you tee off. At the end of the
round, deduct half your handicap from the score of those holes.
SOB SISTER
Convert to par your worst par 3 hole, your worst par 4 hole
and your worst par 5. Subtract your full handicap.
STABLEFORD
Take strokes where they fall and score your net score as follows:
Bogie=1 pt.; Par=2 pts.; Birdie=3 pts.; Eagle=4 pts.
Ts AND Fs
Score nine holes of 18 that begin with T or F. (2, 3, 4, 5,
10, 12, 13, 14, 15) Subtract half your handicap.
THREE BLIND LEPRECHAUNS
Three holes are drawn by the committee after all players tee
off. Deduct the score of these three holes from your gross
score and subtract your full handicap.
THREE CLUBS
Choose any three clubs to take out on the course and leave
the others in your car. Low gross / low net tournament.
THREE-THREE-THREE
Choose best 3 par 3s, 3 par 4s, 3 par 5s. Subtract 1/2 handicap.
THREE PERSON SCRAMBLE
Two 18-hole scores will be used from a 4-person team. One
score from a 3-person scramble (which rotates each hole) and
one score from an individual playing their own ball from the
tee to green. Individual score starts/rotates alphabetically.
One drive required from each player in the scramble. No handicaps.
T-O-E
Score only holes starting with T, O or E (1,2,3,8,10,11,12,13,18).
Subtract half your handicap.
TOUGH LOVE
Score the hardest rated holes (Hcp. rating 1 thru 9). Subtract
half your handicap.
TURKEY SHOOT
Winners are the low gross and low net scorers.
TWO BEST BALLS OF FOUR
Four golfers play as a team, each playing her own ball. Score
each hole as the total of the two best net balls.
WALTZ
– 1,2,3 A foursome team event where one best ball is taken
on the first hole, two best balls are taken on the 2nd hole,
3 best balls are taken on the third hole; one best ball is
taken on the 4th hole and so fourth. Strokes where they fall.
