Note from the President
Welcome to the Encinitas Ranch Women’s Golf Club.
It has been a great summer at Encinitas Ranch. With the kids getting back to school and the weather cooling down, it is time to make your golf plans for the Fall season. We have lots of great activities coming up.
The Presidents Cup is winding down, with Mimi Tokoro and Dulce Chapman playing in the finals. Sue Schakel and Sue Wilson will be playing for 3rd and 4th. The new format has worked out very well and we are hoping to have enough players next year to flight the field.
Our 3rd and final “Away from Home” for the year will be held Tuesday, September 23rd at Camp Pendleton. This will be an 8am shotgun with lunch following golf. Cost is $44 for retired military and $52 for all others. The cost includes, golf, cart, lunch and prizes. A sign up sheet is located on the bulletin board or you can contact Cindy Platko at cpbookkeeping@cox.net . Sign up and payment deadline are September 16th.
Spooks and goblins will be heading our way at the annual Halloween Bring a Friend. This event is Tuesday, October 28th and will be an 8am shotgun with lunch following golf. There is a $10 per person entry fee, plus regular golf fees apply (sorry no JC coupons at this event). Find a friend for trick or treat, prizes will be awarded for best costume and best cart decoration.
Membership renewals are due November 1, 2008. The cost to renew is $65.00. A $10.00 late fee will be applied to any renewals that are postmarked later than Nov 1. All members must fill out and sign the renewal application located in the center of your directory or on the website and mail with your check. If you are using sweeps to pay your membership, please send in the application and note the sweeps amount on the form.
We have some Board positions opening up for 2009. Now is a good time to get involved with your club. We are currently looking for a Social Director. Duties of this position include arranging lunches and decorations for our guest days and holiday tournament, and purchasing trophies for the winners of our major tournaments and year end awards. We are also looking to fill the Treasurer position. This job requires some minor bookkeeping experience. Duties include creating a yearly budget, keeping records of deposits and spending, and keeping track of member sweeps accounts. Both of these positions require that you attend a monthly board meeting usually held on the last Tuesday of each month in the café after golf. We also have some committee positions. Please contact Cindy if you are interested in volunteering.
As I have said many times, it is a pleasure to be President of such a great group. I always look forward to seeing you on the golf course.
Cindy Platko, President ERWGC
